Reader’s Question:

My husband is already 65 years old. We are wondering if he can still purchase a senior life insurance in Alabama. If so, what type should we be getting?

Jane

Birmingham AL

Yes, he can still buy senior life insurance policy in Alabama as long as he is in good health. There may not be a 30-year term policy but a 10-year term is available in affordable rates. Most of the policy does not require medical exams from the client. However, the requirements vary according to the amount of premium applied for and age and health of the client.

An older person with some health issues and would like to apply a coverage that will not expire can purchase a whole life insurance policy or also called final expense policies. This type of policy is designed for older people. In a simplified issue policy, applicants are asked with a few set of questions about their health. Applicants who are terminally ill and those who need to stay in a nursing home are not accepted.

Guaranteed issue policies, on the other hand can accept everybody as long as the applicant can pay the premium. However, this policy is more costly than the simplified issue policy. In addition, the period of waiting before the full amount of death benefit is received is around 2 to 3 years. In this case, you may want to purchase the simplified issue instead of guaranteed issue policy if you are considering a senior life insurance policy. But unlike simplified issue policy, Guaranteed issue policy. Normally refund premiums that was paid including the interest even though the period of waiting was not satisfied.

Reader’s Question:

The life insurance agent I have spoken to in Montgomery, Alabama insists me to sign this policy he has shown me yesterday. It contains most of the conditions we have agreed on but there are some blank spaces on it and he says that he will just fill it up afterwards. Should I sign?

Spencer

Montgomery, AL

No, no, no, no, no, and for the last time NO! Spencer brother, good thing you listened to the doubting Thomas in you and did not sign that policy! That insurance agent of yours has some nerve asking you to do that! You may as well report him to the complaints desk of your State Insurance Department for unethical behavior! You should never sign any document you did not understand and agree to, and how can you if it has some missing parts?

If I were you, I’d shred that life insurance policy now and never talk to that agent again and don’t forget to report him to the customer complaints desk, okay.

But let me just note that there are many reputable insurers in Montgomery, Alabama, and it might be good for you to look for somebody who belongs to the authorized and official groups. You can check with your State Insurance Department if an insurance company you have chosen are accredited by them.

Don’t worry if this puts you a bit backtracked. You can easily find another insurer in Montgomery, Alabama to take their place and you can start by looking for free quotes from this page. When you enter your zip code, you will be given quotes from five insurers in your area, and you can be sure that those companies giving you the proposal are legitimate.
